Yesterday was the day.

May 29th, 2008 by Jen the Mom

Yesterday was the day.

I woke up this morning and turned the phone off in response to all the phone calls I got yesterday from well meaning people who wanted to know if the baby was coming.

I didn’t want to talk about it today.

I walked around the block as fast as a big pregnant belly would allow. I spent some time squatting and getting things moving down. I went to the midwife and had her check things out which made some contractions happen and made everything hurt for a while. I drank cups of red raspberry tea and I went to bed hopeful.

I woke up without a baby and it is now the day after my due date therefore I am not taking phone calls. I hurt everywhere because I definitely overdid it yesterday. I’m walking slow, doing as little as possible and taking sick advantage of my mom being here.

I’m trying not to think too much about it. No woman has had a baby in her womb forever but if you happen to be trying to call me and you’re not getting an answer, the phone is off.

Sorry but I’ll call you back after the baby is born.

To keep you entertained in the meantime, here’s some pictures of the kids playing with Grandma.

They’re playing with clay making fertility statues. Can’t you tell?

The kids were awfully proud of their creations!

You’re a better woman than me. I turned the phone off before my due date and didn’t turn it back on until I had the baby.

Love the artwork and I hope it happens soon!

Oh, girl, I know how you feel! Harrison was a week late. It sucks. I can’t wait to hear the big news!!!! Here’s to hoping for that baby to GET OUT! I miss you!

that sounds all too familiar…and miserable. just nature’s way of making us ok with the idea of labor–lol! don’t worry, they all come out–she’ll be here before you know it. i know the pregnancy seems never ending right now, but it will be over soon–don’t forget to enjoy a few last belly pats. you do kind of miss it once it’s gone…

    love those art projects!

PS I don’t think fertility is a problem for you :)

Good for you Jen. Imagine your doctor committing you to bed rest at 31 weeks due to regular, however somewhat low intensity, contractions. That’s what my wife went through with our now 22 month old daughter. Those contractions carried on all the way through week 40 when she was born 1 day after her due date. But all the while we thought we could be having a baby any day. Your baby will make his or her grand entrance soon enough. All the best.

I can’t wait to see the pictures and hear your story!!

Um yeah, not so certain fertility is a huge problem for you…so while I feel for you having to actually get to your due date and perhaps go over I’m not so sure you should complain so much. There are too many of us who can’t have babies at all.
