The country has my heart

November 19th, 2009 by Jen the Mom

I love the country. I love everything about being out here.

One of the errands on my to do list brought me to a lumber mill, almost an hour North of where we live, even further into the country. We saw fields and fields of brown grass under blue sky before we saw a house and then we’d see fields and fields again before the next house. I’m not sure what I think about that. On one hand I love the idea of letting my kids play outside in the acres of private property, wooded and grassy. It would be beautiful and calming but on the other hand it would mean that my closest neighbor is too far away to borrow a cup of sugar. If you were to ask my current neighbors how often I borrow a cup of sugar then you would know that this is very important to me. I love being in the country but we’re not THAT far into the country. I can see the fields from my house and I see people on horses walking along the streets often but I’m surrounded by houses full of sugar-giving neighbors and there are both good and bad points to having neighbors but I’ll save that for another post….maybe.

David's smile never ceases to make me laugh

As a boy should be.

The woman who runs the lumber mill, and lives on the property, has a dog named Freckles who is the smartest and friendliest dog I’ve ever met. He was the highlight of our trip last year and the kids couldn’t wait to race around with Freckles. I wanted to get a picture of him so the kids can have a keepsake of their playdate at the lumber mill.

Freckles, please come home with me!

My babies

In case you were wondering, yes those are pajamas that David and Laurelyn are wearing. That’s what happens when the little ones are still in their pj’s after 2:00 in the afternoon. Oh, come on. I can’t be the only one who’s done it.

Often. Enjoy!
