It was last minute but friends of ours invited us to join them in Fairmont for a couple days. It’s a quick and unexpected summer vacation but as I sit here in the cool of the basement early in the morning I have to admit that I am in heaven. I didn’t realize how badly Chuck and I needed to get away until we arrived. We have eaten junk food. We have stayed up until 3 in the morning playing Sequence and Imagine if. We’ve watched movies and played badminton in the backyard. We’ve seen hummingbirds, chipmunks and the noisy dog next door.

I think that later today we’re going shopping, a must-do on vacation, and we’ll cool off at the lake. It’s been so hot outside that we can’t stay out for long so I hope that it cools off enough to be comfortable for the kids but hot enough to play in the lake.

I’ll post again later although since we’re on vacation I don’t know how often that will be.
