My second project

January 7th, 2009 by Jen the Mom

Jason picked out this fantasticly boyish pattern for his apron. I worked on it for a good three hours last night before I realized that I shouldn’t have jumped in without a pattern and without thinking all the pieces through.

I have now asked forgiveness of a very patient little boy, read emails from a wonderful new friend who is an expert at all things crafty and I’ve talked on the phone with a friend when my brain won’t imagine what I’m trying to do. (Thanks Kristin)

So I’m starting over today and I have high hopes that I will in fact finish this apron today. OF course sewing is happening in between homeschool, dishes, laundry and nursing a baby.

I’m making the apron blue flames with orange flame pockets on one side with orange flames on the opposite side with blue flame pockets. It’s going to be interesting to pull this together. I’ll keep taking pictures so you can see how this comes together.

Wish me luck!

If you’re also wanting to make an apron and would like a quick and easy pattern there’s a great tutorial over at Wishes Dream Love. Check her out, she’s got some great tutorials over there.

If you are doing a reversible one; add the pockets to each side first before sewing them together right sides together. Leave a little opening and turn right sides out and to give a nice finished look: sew all around just slightly from the edge all around. This stitch will also close your hole you left to turn the apron right side out.

Just got back from son’s swimming lesson and now I need to get him and his middle sister to the drs appt. Boy I’m not looking forward to this appt…he has to get quite a few shots for his 5 yr check up.

What!?! You’re not super-mom? You can’t nurse and sew at the same time?! My image of you has been shattered!

I don’t know how you do everything you do and still sleep!
