As far as I know there are no ghosts at Ghost Lake so I need to do some research to find out how the lake got it’s name. We’ve been there several times and we have met lots of people but all of them were living and well. No ghosts.
There are a lot of boats trying to take advantage of the last breaths of summer. Autumn is here now and that means that are warm days are one a fast count down. The weather channel told us that it was going to be 35 degrees today so we jumped into the batmobile and raced off for the water. We met some dogs that licked our hands until they were satisfied. We chased the seagulls away when they were trying to get at our ice cream bars. We walked down to the water and threw rocks. We talked with a woman who was a week past her due date and talked about our midwives. We sat together and laughed until our sides hurt.
There’s something magical about Autumn. The air feels different, the lighting is different and I can’t help but feel anticipation for everything exciting that’s quickly coming our way. We have school started again. We have Canadian Thanksgiving coming in October. Halloween quick on its heels and then a trip to Washington for American Thanksgiving. That will be followed by Christmas and New Years and then a very long nap. I love Autumn. I love the colors and the scents and the warm breeze. It’s just enough to need a sweater sometimes but not enough to make your nose hairs freeze or anything.
The kids and I spent some time leaping off the big boulders that outline the parking area. It was fun to feel like a kid again. The wind in my hair and the sun on my face. I was smiling and couldn’t help it. That’s the best feeling.
Chuck took the kids down the path to the water. I stood above him and watched while he walked my babies down through the bushes and into the rocky shore. He is such an amazing father. I am very blessed to have him and I am grateful for who I married, every day.
I love how his lips move when he’s talking to himself silently. His mind is a machine that never turns off. I wish sometimes that it came with an owner’s manual but I wouldn’t change anything about Chuck. All the things that make me crazy are tied to the things that make me love him.
I am the luckiest woman in the world!
Of course, he’s pretty dang lucky himself. He gets to be married to me!
The wind is howling and the autumn colors are showing on the trees. It won’t be long now until the snow comes and it’s too cold to go outside every day. On those cold days I can remember our trip to the lake and how much fun we had as a family.

you guys are absolutely irresistable, you make me smile right down to my toes. love you
I love the pictures of you all jumping in the wind. I love the feeling that fall brings too! It’s my favorite season… that is, until summer comes along and I forget that fall is my favorite season, and you can hear me saying “Summer is my favorite season!” But truly, FALL is the best. The foods, the smells, the wind, the warm soft fabrics, the colorful trees…oh, it’s the best!
I always have a hard time saying goodbye to summer. Love the pictures!
Loved the pictures. I too am sad to see summer leave even though ours kind of sucked up this way. Lots and lots of rain.
Stopping in from the VGNO. Have a great weekend.
Beautiful pictures! Happy VGNO!
