We woke up last Saturday to see this on our sidewalk. It took a moment for me to realize what it meant but eventually I figured it out. Do you know what it is?

Here’s a closeup to make it easier.

That’s right!

It’s GRASS!!!

MY GRASS!!!

A group of guys showed up, pulled their shirts off and laid sod in my backyard. I couldn’t have been happier. I spent the next two days standing outside watering my lawn by hand. I didn’t realize what a huge yard I have until I was out there watering every square inch by hand!

I wish I could write how I felt when I saw this. I’ve always loved the color of green. The trees when winter finally goes away. The cut grass that sticks to my kids’ sweaters, evidence that spring has come. Although my backyard isn’t a beautiful shade of green everywhere it still made me misty eyed every time I looked out the windows. I took the opportunity to breath in the smell of grass while I was dutifully watering.

When I was younger I loved the sight of a cute guy, a fast car or beautiful outfit through shop glass windows. Now I love the sight of green grass and my children playing. I don’t miss a thing. Who knew that getting a lawn could make me feel like a true blue grown-up?

My bathtub has been taking FOREVER to drain after I give my kids a bath. I didn’t know how to clean it so I went looking where I always go when I don’t know what to do. I found a Youtube video that explained exactly how to clean out all the gunk from my bathtub drain. Jocelyn watched the video with me, helped me clean the drain and then wanted to make her own FIY (fix it yourself) video. Here is my baby girl showing you how to clean out your tub drain.

Enjoy!

My baby sister has reminded me that I have responsibilities to other people besides the little children acting out the Battle of the Bulge in the playroom. I can’t quite tell who is playing the different countries but there’s a lot of yelling and calling for “Medic!”

I have been so focused one getting productive that I’ve gotten pretty unproductive on this blog so my sister has given me a deadline, something I love. I have one hour to get as many posts published as possible. I considered posting one word at a time but I think that would be maddening to read so instead I’m opting for a bullet list.

Here’s what I’ve been up to;

1. I’m trying to get to a fitness class 3 days a week. It’s not always possible but I am really wanting to get Phat as opposed to Fat.

2. I’m knitting (Don’t roll your eyes at me! Knitting can be cool. Really.) I’m knitting a scarf for my baby brother who is on his mission to Denver Colorado. I figure if it’s getting cold here then it’s getting cold in Colorado. Jason and Jocelyn have gotten interested in knitting so I’ve shown them how to knit with needles. They made finger knitted scarves all winter last year but this year they want to make what Mom is making.

3. I’m going to a French class Thursday nights. I have given up on trying to learn French on my own with books. I need to hear it and have someone correct me. Anyone who knows my husband might suggest that I learn French from him. To that I would say that I love my husband and I want to continue to love him. His French is amazing but personally I believe that it’s best to learn something new from someone you don’t share a bed with.

4. I’ve been asked to speak at a Women’s Summit called From Stress to Success. They want me to speak on homeschooling. How we got started, why we chose to homeschool and how it’s impacted our family and suggestions for parents thinking about homeschooling. I’m excited and terrified all at the same time. Mostly terrified, though. This can possibly be the largest venue I’ve spoken at so far. Thank goodness it’s a recorded interview so I get to do it in my pajamas!

5. Jason and Jocelyn have started scouts last week and we are rapidly getting into some crazy times. I love having my kids involved with outside activities like gymnastics, hip hop dance, art classes, music lessons and stuff but I hate leaving my home on someone else’s schedule. I like to get moving at my own pace.

6. I have to write a blog review on some sweet smelly stuff I was sent a couple days ago.

I have some pictures to put up but I’ll do that in a later post when I have time to upload, tag and label all the pictures. For now I am going to make dinner, get my kids organized, take Jason to Scouts, drop some books off at the library, get the little ones into bed and try to work more on my brother’s scarf.

I need to get a ton done but now that I’m on the computer I think I might fart around on Youtube.

Now I know why I was staying off the computer.

I can’t wait to be sitting in my yard, sipping lemonade and watching the kids play in the grass. That’s the image that kept me working.

How cute is this little bundle? Well, she was such a busy little thing that I decided to contain her while I was busy hauling crap out of the yard. She seemed content in the wheelbarrow, don’t you think?
